In order to answer the question, "is numerology real?" You must first ask yourself, "do numbers have a special meaning?".  By that I mean, are the numbers three, seven, twelve and thirteen simply just numbers, or do they have some significant meaning? All of our lives we have been taught, and most of us have noticed, that the number "seven" is considered to be a lucky number. We have also equally been exposed to the philosophy that the number "thirteen" is extremely unlucky.  Are these just coincidences? Did these numbers acquire their meaning by accident?

Even in a book as old as the Bible, we find numbers associating themselves to significant meanings!  One has only to look at the book of revelation to see the deep meaning of numbers within its pages.  Throughout the entire book, from the seven days it took to make the world, to the seven seals that ends it, we find that the Bible itself is one of the strongest supporters of the very foundations and philosophies in which numerology was built upon!

Numbers also have a meaning in the world around us, not just in the ordinary sense of adding subtracting and dividing, I am talking about a more mystical occurrence of numbers that anyone can freely observe.  A good example of this can be found in our world's oceans.  Anyone who has ever been at sea has most likely noticed that you can travel for days and never see either land, another boat, or anything at all floating in the water.  When you consider that the earth's surface is two-thirds water, this is really not unusual at all. But what is unusual is when we encounter a phenomenon known as "grouping". This is when you see a piece of debris floating on the water, but it is floating with, side-by-side, another piece of debris!  (Most of the time more than two, sometimes large groups of debris!) This phenomenon has been found in areas where current and wind cannot be the cause.  Why?  Because sometimes you find a bottle or a lifejacket floating with something that obviously did not originate from the same place, like a piece of wood or even another lifejacket or bottle.  The way you know that they did not come from the same place is because one will have suffered far more water damage than the other. This means that they entered the water at two entirely different point in time! The point of the story is they tend to group together.  They form a number.

There is far more to numbers then meet the eye!  If it were not for our understanding of numbers, we would not have computers, cars, airplanes or any type of monetary system! We did not invent numbers by the way, we discovered numbers!

Bringing me back to the question, is numerology real?

Numerology is based on the philosophy that numbers have meaning. That meaning has been defined by years of observation and association by people interested in numbers and how they affect us.  Many people interested in astrology are also interested in numbers, because both astrology and numerology share a background in numbers. Numerology differs from astrology in that it does not calculate anything planetary or stellar, but rather attempts to ascertain the effects of numbers that are embedded in our own birthdates and names.  Numbers can be thought of as frequencies, or vibrations. When we are given name, a label that we must carry with us through our life, that name has an underlying number which carries with it a vibration that will affect your entire life. You are born on a certain date, at a certain time. This also has a meaning.

It is my belief that numerology is real, because numbers are real. Numbers have demonstrated that they have a real individual influence on our everyday lives. They have demonstrated this throughout all of history, and most likely even before recorded history! The history of numerology, the analyzing of personal numbers, is a very long history of gifted psychics and scholars, astrologers and mystics working together and individually throughout all of history to this date, to give us what we know today as modern numerology. Many people consider this to be far more accurate than astrology, but I leave that to you, dear reader, to decide for yourself.
